Idea #61 - Hans Zimmer & The Soundtrack of DUNE
Yesterday we saw a video on 'How 'Dune' Composer Hans Zimmer Created The Oscar Winning Score' by Vanity Fair wherein Hans Zimmer dissected the intricacies of the Dune soundtrack, and how it sounds so futuristic.
His creative vision for this soundtrack was to invent instruments that do not exist, invent sounds that do not exist.
Music plays an integral part in building the other-worldly feel that Dune has, and Hans Zimmer rightly brought this film to life. Unlike most sci-fi futuristic films that use orchestral music for their soundtracks, Zimmer opted for an electronic feel. Through the use of synthesised instruments, Zimmer, along with his team - managed to create sounds that reflect the future advancement in technology.
