Idea #124 - The Emotional Maturity Test

You realise that because life is so very short, it’s extremely important that you try to say what you really mean, focus on what you really want, and tell those you care about that they matter immensely to you. Probably every day.

When was the last time you took a moment to check in with how you’re feeling? Hopefully, today’s discussion on testing our emotional maturity was a much needed reflective session.

The test was created by The School of Life, a YouTube channel that offers insights into the key ingredients of emotional wellbeing. These 26 questions touched upon different areas of our lives: our self, friendships, family and work and compelled us to sit down and think about where we measure against these parameters. There is no acceptable or ideal score as the process of maturing emotionally treads between making progress and having setbacks, and hey that’s what makes us human!

For some of us, the test stood as a reminder of how far we’ve come along, while for some, it showed a promising skill to gradually get better at. Like any physical sport, venturing into this side of our personalities might seem intimidating at first but with compassion and lots of practice, we’re sowing seeds for a better, more fulfilling life.
